Kanban Studio Board

Studio

The board shows every job you have open as a card, in columns you name yourself: what is waiting to be mixed, what went to the client, what came back with notes. Each card tells you what the client did with what you sent: whether they opened the link, when they last listened, and how many of their comments you have not read. It is a Studio feature, under Board in the sidebar.

Cards

A card is one thing you deliver: a playlist, or a single track you send directly. An album of seven tracks is one card. A track sent to three people is still one card, with the three names on it. The same track sent as a single to one client and inside an album to another is two cards, because they are two deliveries.

Each card shows:

  • the title, with a small dot in the colors of its player, so you recognise your projects by the look you gave them;
  • N tracks for a playlist, Track for a single track;
  • who it was sent to: one name, or the first name and how many more ("Marco +2").

Click a card to open its playlist or track page.

Badges

The badges update by themselves from real listening, whatever column the card is in:

  • Not opened: the card has at least one link and nobody has listened yet. This is the client to nudge.
  • Listened · 2d ago: the latest listen on any of its links.
  • 3 new comments: comments from listeners you have not read yet. Opening the track page clears them.

A card with no link yet has no badge. Plays on your Website embed never count: a visitor on your site is not your client listening.

How cards get on the board

The first time you open the board, you choose what to bring over. The list holds your playlists and tracks (not archived, not in the trash); whatever you created, sent or that was played in the last 30 days is already ticked. Start empty skips this.

From then on, a card appears by itself in the first column when you:

  • create a playlist;
  • send a track to someone for the first time;
  • receive an Upload area submission that starts a new project.

Anything else is one click away: Add on the board opens the same list, and every playlist and track page has an Add to board button. On a track you have not sent yet, the card stays the same when you send it later. Once a card is on the board, that button reads On board: In progress (or whatever column it is in) and opens the board.

Uploading a track does not create a card, so an album uploaded track by track does not fill the board. Switching on a Website embed does not create one either.

Columns and moving cards

The board starts with Inbox, In progress, Waiting for feedback and Done. Rename them, add new ones with Add column, move them left or right, or delete them from each column's menu.

The first column is where new cards land. You can rename it, but not delete or move it. Deleting a column that holds cards asks what to do with them: move them to the first column, or take them off the board. Their playlists stay in your library either way.

On a computer, drag a card to another column or up and down to set your own order. On any device, the card menu has Move to. Nothing moves a card except you.

On a phone the board shows one column at a time: swipe sideways to the next one, and use the card menu to move cards.

Archive

Archive card takes a finished job off your working columns. Archive all cards in a column's menu does it for the whole column, handy at the end of the month on Done. Archived cards wait in the Archive column, shown with Show archive. From there, Unarchive puts a card back in the column it came from, and Delete card removes it from the board.

The board never changes your library

Moving, archiving or deleting a card, or deleting a column, never touches the playlist or track behind it: the playlist stays where it is, its links keep working. The board says so each time ("Card archived. The playlist is unchanged.").

It works the other way round: the board follows your library.

  • Archiving a playlist, by hand or with automatic archiving, puts its card in the Archive column; unarchiving it brings the card back where it was.
  • A playlist or track in the trash takes its card off the board until you restore it. Deleting it forever removes the card.
  • When a track you sent on its own grows into a playlist (you add more tracks to its share), it keeps the same card and its place.

On another plan

If you move from Studio to Pro or Free, the board is hidden but kept exactly as it is, and no cards are added meanwhile. Back on Studio you find it as you left it, and Add lists what you created in between.
